New FMLA Posting Mandated With March 8 Deadline

Several changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act regulations are made in this Final Rule, including military caregiver leave for a veteran, qualifying exigency leave for parental care, and the special leave calculation method for flight crew employees. Payroll Tax Changes for 2013

In addition to January 1 reinstatement of the 2% employee OASDI increase, the IRS changed 2013 federal withholding tax tables in mid-January. Employees may have noticed FIT (and sometimes SIT) changes mid-month. Employees continue to battle privacy and free speech rights when using social media.  Employers are gravely at risk without strong social media policies in place or without proven advance communication of these policies. As long as "free" websites continue to falsely promise privacy, employees will continue posting private thoughts to the world wide web. Employers must educate or stand by powerlessly while the company and its stakeholders get hit, sometimes hit quite hard, by otherwise stoppable bad acts. Employees who are not forewarned cannot be disciplined. General discussion of workplace conditions is not a terminable offense according to the NLRB.
